Spring
Spring is beginning to flourish in our local area, just this morning on our walk to the local primary school, we saw tree's bursting into bloom.
A sure sign that warmer days are ahead and the seasons are changing.
Spring is a welcomed season by many, the parks begin to reveal hidden flowers, the days become lighter and the general feeling, is one of new beginnings.
In early years, like any other season, spring is one to be celebrated, a gift from mother nature. We look at what nature provides us to discover, treasures that must be explored first hand, leaves, sticks, petals, rain, fallen blossom, the list truly is endless.
Around the setting you will find an array of exciting activities, supporting children to embrace and understand the world around them, developing an understanding of growth, nurturing and even where their food comes from.
As the weather changes, so does what we can see and hear.
An extraordinary delight for the senses!
The birds seem to chirp louder and the tree's begin to stand up taller.
The bugs and insects, appear to come out in force to say hello.
Supporting the children to experience these changes, through their own eyes, is so important.
After all, we would, as adults struggle to describe or imagine something that we haven't witnessed for ourselves.
Not all families are lucky enough to have gardens and if you’re like me, you may not enjoy gardening.
This is why we venture out into nature everyday, to see what wonderful things we can discover, things that can often be missed when we are busy.
It's beautiful to take a moment and slow down and enjoy a little bit of spring.
As spring approaches, we always begin with sharing a little nursery sunshine at home. All of our children are offered a little bag, with all you need to grow your very own sunflower at home, really simple, creative for the little ones and results in the most unique flowers.
A spring connection, shared between setting and home.
Sunflowers are then planted at home and in nursery.
Where the children and educators, observe the wonderful individuality of each sunflower, from the seeds, to the seedlings, to the stalks to the petals and heads.
A beautiful learning opportunity, shared between family and setting.
Sparking meaningful conversations and understanding of not only themselves, but the world around them.
As well as planting already bloomed flowers, our children enjoy planting their own seeds .
Especially vegetables!
Which we plant in our mini onsite allotment!
The children wait very patiently for the fruits and vegetables to be ready, so they can try the fruits of their hard work.
We love all seasons here at nursery, especially one with so much promise for the coming months.
